FAIRIES AT DAWN
Written By Dawn M .2006.
I awoke at dawn and tiptoed out to watch…
The sun peep over the far off hills,
A shaft of silvery light, glittered into the garden,
A shiny black bird sat on high,
He warbled and sang a melody to attract a lady.
I tiptoed out onto the lawn,
Was startled with such surprise.
Everywhere my eyes could see,
Diamonds and jewelled gossamer lace,
Where bluebells and hollyhocks grow tall.
Fairy dresses and shawls sparkled in the early dawn,
On the lupins and the snapdragons hung the daintiest of gowns,
And, in the gloomy light of dawn there, shimmering,
Sequinned coats and tiaras fit for a queen,
On the archway, in each space,
Delicate petticoats of the finest lace.
Twinkling strands of life everywhere,
Little beings, hiding out of sight,
What wondrous little fairies of the early morning light,
The black bird is talking with gifted warble,
A thought, Is that black bird secretly singing…
To the fairies under the hollyhock leaves?
Arbours are filled with beautiful scents,
Trees that will bear magnificent fruit
This is the tale of the fairies at dawn,
Singing songs, telling stories to guide the way,
Through the trail of fairy gardens, glens and vales.

SPRING IS ALMOST UPON US.

WHAT A GARDEN TO BEHOLD!
A truly beautiful painting. It brings sparkle to ones,
soul and the colours make you want to dance.
It will soon be spring...actually in 6 more days Springs,
beautiful child will be born and birds will sing and the
sun will begin to get warmer. Hopefully with the birth of
spring the heavens may sprinkle us with lots of refreshing
rain to alleviate the drought, that has a tight grip and is
not wanting to let up.

WORDS AND WHAT THEY MEAN.
I enjoy perusing the dictionary and get a lot of pleasure out of words and in particular unusual or little used words in today's vocabulary. Over on my other blog. A blog mate has on her journal a word of the day and I have found this to be fascinating and very interesting exercise. Today I was reading and came across this word and immediately was scrambling for my dictionary to find the meaning. The word is...
MERETRICIOUS---MEANING=DECEITFULLY AND ARTIFICIALLY ATTRACTIVE. VULGAR, TAWDRY, WANTON...PERTAINING TO HARLOT, PROSTITUTE.
So I will be keeping my eye open for interesting, unusual words that have slipped from the vocabulary over time.
